You are probably well aware of the increasing popularity in all things related to hemp oil, sometimes called cannabis oil or CBD in Australia. There is a surge in interest in research relating to medicine, pain and health, and hemp applications including cannabinoids are growing in popularity amongst the general population along with cannabis oil. But what most people don’t know is exactly what the legal cannabinoids are, so let's quickly look at the terminology and also how to find the best cannabis oil products.
Cannabis oil is made from cannabis, a plant high in THC. This essentially means any cannabis strain that has a high THC level capable of causing a mind-altering effect, usually found in the Indica strain. Although cannabis oil may also contain high levels of CBD in some cases, if it contains more THC than the legal threshold of 0.3% (lower in other regions), or if it’s derived from recreational cannabis strains, it’s not considered to be hemp/CBD oil.
Hemp extract or CBD oil is not the same as cannabis oil. Although both are derived from the same family of plants, CBD oil and cannabis oil are extremely different, and also fall under completely different laws. Both CBD oil and cannabis oil are usually consumed for different purposes.
Cannabis oil is a type of extract from the cannabis plant, including extracts from both marijuana and hemp. The goal of the cannabis oil extraction process is to remove the plant’s naturally viscous oil from dried or fresh cannabis.
CBD oil (cannabidiol) cannabis oil is a safe and natural remedy used by men, women, children and even pets in Australia and around the world for its potential therapeutic properties.
We all have an endocannabinoid system which interacts with cannabinoids in our bodies. It is the endocannabinoid system which is responsible for certain functions – such as regulating inflammation and pain, as well as having some cognitive functions. By stimulating the body's CB2 receptors (found mainly in the immune tissues), cannabis oil can also help to improve your well-being.
